A hand-held torch with an internal heater provides a hot air stream onto the pieces of material to be welded. A filler rod of the parent material is pressed into the joint using the tip of the torch. The heat fuses the filler rod into the joint, producing a strong weld.

The hot air welding torch that is supplied with the Thermoforming Centre 911 is also available as a single unit. It can be operated using the air supply from a 1210, 725 or 750FLB vacuum former pressure outlet or a compressed air supply (requires a pressure regulator). The unit is supplied with 1 kg of PP welding rod.
