Laser Cutting |
|
| |
A powerful (25-400 watt) laser beam is produced inside the machine.A series of mirrors direct the laser beam vertically down onto the material to be cut.As the laser beam hits the material, the intense heat vaporises it, leaving a polished face.Motorised actuators move the mirrors to adjust the cutting position while the laser supply remains stationary (flying optics). This maximises movement speed and enables the laser cutter to cut straight lines and smooth contours. The power setting can also be reduced so that the laser beam doesn’t cut completely through the material, enabling engraving in the same operation.Laser cutting is efficient on most thermoplastics materials (with the exception of PVC).It is also suitable for cutting paper, card, cork and many other materials. |
